The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”  – Dr. Seuss

Hello and thanks for reading my blog! As is common for most writers, I find it hard to write much about myself so I will just jot down a few key points.

I have spent most of my life in Michigan, except for an 8 year hiatus in which I lived in Florida to get away from the brutal winters and spend a bit of time getting my Master’s in Developmental Psychology from Florida Atlantic University. During that time I was lucky enough to marry my college sweetheart and, much to the chagrin of our cat, add a very charismatic and brilliant little boy to our family. Hearing through the grapevine that Detroit was making a comeback and needed people to promote and support that movement, we picked up and moved our family to the city.

So here I am, a stay at home mom in Detroit, with a school age child and a need to work towards something. I have, with some reluctance, decided to toss aside my degrees and experience in order to follow my heart into the world of writing for children. The best way I can describe my feelings regarding this venture is to quote the words of wisdom given by one Whoopi Goldberg in the movie Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit: “if you wake up in the morning and all you can think about is singing first, then girl you suppose to be a singer.”

You catch my drift.

I am currently working an a couple of picture books as well as an early reader chapter book series. Keep your fingers crossed!

  1. I love this blog entry and I can’t wait until I have time to read more! I am a lover of quotes as well. My favorite is “Life is either a daring adventure or nothing…” – Helen Keller. I can never remember the entire quote, but that is the part I love.
Time to get back to work and then at least an hour on writing.
